A Message from the Principal
Welcome to this latest edition of our Academy newsletter which is full of excellent articles detailing our work over the spring term.
Since January we have focused on building on the successes of our Section 5 Ofsted inspection in November 2012. Our Year 11 students, in particular, have been working very hard on their coursework and sitting further GCSE examinations in English, mathematics and science. The commitment towards their studies has been outstanding and we are feeling confident that they will become the next cohort to smash the achievement records of previous years.
Development for the sixth form is really taking shape. Preparations are in hand to start the expansion and refurbishment of the Academy site over the summer term; this expansion of the site will provide unique learning spaces for our first ever cohort of Year 12 students.
Our students have already started selecting their ‘A’ Level courses following an excellent sixth form open event held on the 17th February. The aspiration and commitment our students have for their own futures is fantastic and I know they will be truly fulfilled over the next two years. Representatives from Liverpool, Oxford and Cambridge universities were impressed by how passionate our students are about their education.
This current period is really an exciting phase in our Academy’s history.
